Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are gearing up for their first home game of the season and in last two years. They would be playing in front of the raucous crowd who will be more animated following the return of the franchise after a gap of 24 months. They also began their season wonderfully well by snatching the victory from the jaws of defeat against the Mumbai Indians in the tournament opener.
However, one of the heroes of that game, Kedar Jadhav has been ruled out of the tournament now.
He sustained the injury while batting in the chase against MI and had to walk off in the middle. Though he had comeback heroically in the last over to win the game for his side.
But he himself had indicated after the victory that the injury might rule him out for a significant period from the tournament.
As things stand now, he has suffered a grade 2 hamstring tear and it will be interesting to see if CSK name any replacement for him.
Hussey confirms the news
The batting coach of Chennai Super Kings confirmed the news of Kedar Jadhav being ruled out of the tournament on Monday. He was disappointed with the fact their key middle-order player won’t be taking any part in the future games.
“Big loss for us. [Jadhav] a very key player for us in the middle-order,” he was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.
Jadhav’s ramp shot off Mustafizur Rahman had sealed a sensational victory for CSK in the first game and the franchise will have to change their plans again now.
Interestingly, they opted not to replace Mitchell Santner after he was ruled out of the IPL and now it remains to be seen if they do the same in Jadhav’s case.
