Hardik Pandya achieves a record that no Indian recorded in 21st century

After failing to capitalize on a great start, India made a decent comeback on the second day thanks to an all-round performance from Hardik Pandya.

 

India’s overnight batsmen failed to make runs despite their resistance as they were reduced to 92/7 before Pandya and Bhuvneshwar Kumar involved in a 99-run 8th wicket partnership. Pandya scored an entering 95-ball 93 as the visiting side reduced the deficit to 77 before they bowled for 209.

101 – Vernon Philander became the 7th player to take 100 wickets in Test cricket on the South African soil. His Test bowling average of 18.65 in South Africa is the 2nd best behind Jim Laker’s 18.09 in England among the player who have taken 100 Test wickets.


 

99 – The 99-run stand between Pandya and Bhuvneshwar Kumar is the 2nd highest Test partnership for India for 8th and lower wicket in South Africa. Pravin Amre and Kiran More put on 101 for the 8th wicket in the 1992 Durban Test.
